The number of new Corona infections continued to fall in Austria on Friday. Within 24 hours (as of 9:30 a.m.), the Interior and Health Ministries reported 6,738 new cases. The seven-day incidence was 726 cases per 100,000 population. However, in intensive care units, the number of patients increased by six people to 643.
As of Friday, there were thus 123,238 active cases in Austria, down by 6,828 from the previous day. 68 deaths had occurred since yesterday, which was above the seven-day daily average of 58.4 people. Overall, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 12,693 lives in Austria since the outbreak. Per 100,000 population, 142.1 people have died from or with Covid-19 since the pandemic began.
There were 3,180 people in hospital on Friday, 61 fewer than were reported yesterday. 643 people were being cared for in intensive care units. That number increased by six patients since yesterday.
A total of 573,618 PCR and rapid antigen tests were reported in the past 24 hours. Of these, 416,685 were meaningful PCR tests. The positive rate here was 1.6 percent. This 24-hour figure was below last week’s average of 2.2 percent.
109,574 vaccinations were administered Thursday. In total, 6,374,080 Austrians had thus already received at least one vaccination, according to the E-vaccination passport data. 6,007,080 people, or 67.2 percent of people in Austria, had valid vaccination protection.
