After the holidays, the number of new Corona infections is rising slightly again. From Monday to Tuesday, 2,416 new infections were registered in Austria. This is above the average of 2,080 over the past seven days, with the number of active cases dropping to 28,422.
There are also 22 new deaths related to Covid 19 infection to report. Thus, the pandemic has claimed 13,672 lives in Austria so far.
There are currently 1,199 people in hospital, eight fewer patients than the previous day. 372 people are being cared for in intensive care units. Eleven fewer patients than on Monday.
Based on PCR test re-registrations, the total number of new PCR tests today is 1,837,838. However, these were not done in the past 24 hours alone.
Vaccination
On Monday, 48,458 vaccinations were administered. Meanwhile, 70.4 percent of Austrians, or 6,290,865 people, have valid vaccination protection. Of the vaccinations yesterday, 4,674 were first-time shots. 14,742 vaccinations were second stings. Third stings were administered most frequently, 29,042 immunizations, or 59.93 percent of all immunizations administered on Monday.
The protection rate (valid vaccination certificate) is highest in Burgenland, with 75.6 percent. In Lower Austria, 72.2 percent of the population has valid vaccination protection, and in Styria, 70.2 percent. After Vienna (69.7), Tyrol (69.3), Vorarlberg (67.5), Carinthia (67.1) and Salzburg (67.1), Upper Austria brings up the rear with 66 percent.
