For families, 2022 brings an increase in the Family Bonus Plus. Starting in July, it will rise from 1,500 euros to 2,000 euros.
All employed persons with children will be eligible. This will result in a total relief of 600 million euros more per year, from which 1.75 million children in the country will benefit, the office of Family Minister Susanne Raab told the APA.
Also, a new 15a agreement with the federal states is due in 2022 in the matter of childcare. The current one runs only until August 2022, and the federal government has promised more money for childcare. Three priorities are to be emphasized: The opening hours of childcare facilities must be extended and made more flexible, there are to be more places for under-threes and early language support, also from an integration perspective.
The additional earnings threshold for income-related childcare allowance and the childcare allowance account is to be raised. From 2022, this will rise from the current level of 7,300 euros to 7,600 euros per year. In addition, funding for family counseling centers and child protection centers is to be increased by three million euros, and the budget for school textbooks will increase once again, specifically by six million euros. A total of 130.6 million euros will be made available from the Family Burden Equalization Fund.
