Only three new deaths reported in the past 24 hours. 325 patients in an intensive care unit.
In the past 24 hours, 3,283 new infections were officially registered in Austria. From Saturday to Sunday, only three new deaths related to the coronavirus were also reported. This is well below the average of 19.3 corona deaths per day over the past two weeks.
Intensive care units currently have 325 patients, up three from the previous day. Occupancy declined in the normal wards, where 973 patients are currently registered with Corona disease. This is 31 fewer than were reported on Saturday.
The 7-day incidence of new infections is thus rising again significantly. It is currently at just under 235.4, two weeks ago this value was still at 216.
In terms of vaccination, there was hardly any movement over the past holidays. On January 1, only 3,120 vaccine doses were administered. 1,466 of these were third shots. 274 people were vaccinated against Corona for the first time on New Year’s Day. Thus, as of January 2, 2022, 74.42 percent of the vaccine-eligible population has a valid vaccination certificate.
