Seven new deaths reported from yesterday to today. 320 patients in intensive care.
The much more contagious Omicron variant continues to spread in Austria, causing case numbers to continue to rise. From Sunday to Monday, 3,319 new infections were registered in Austria. This is above the average of 3,247 over the past seven days, and also brings the number of active cases to 34,330.
In the past 24 hours, 167,087 new PCR tests were performed. This results in a positive rate of 1.99 percent. The seven-day incidence has increased to 255.32.
There are also seven new deaths associated with Covid 19 infection to report. Thus, the pandemic has claimed 13,759 lives in Austria so far.
There are currently 1,017 people in hospital, 44 more patients than the previous day. 320 people are being cared for in intensive care units, five fewer than yesterday.
