From Monday on, boostered people are allowed to enter Austria without a Coronatest, no matter which country they come from. This new entry rule is provided for by the 12th amendment to the Covid-19 entry regulation, which was published in the Federal Law Gazette on Wednesday evening.
Fourteen Omicron precursor countries will be removed from the list of virus variant areas, it says, according to APA, including Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom, as well as 10 countries in southern Africa.
As a result, there will be no further entry requirements for third party vaccinators if they want to enter Austria – the background is that Austria also already has Omicron as the predominant virus variant.
The previous virus variant countries are thus affected by the “2G+” entry regime as of Monday – only those who are either vaccinated or have recovered and also have a negative PCR test may enter Austria. In contrast, boostered persons, i.e. triple vaccinated persons, no longer need a test.
Previously, the regulation had stipulated that only persons who had been triple-vaccinated and could show a negative PCR test no more than 48 hours old were allowed to enter Austria from virus-variant areas.
The entry regulation itself, which was previously limited until January 31, 2022, is additionally extended by the new regulation by another month until the end of February 2022.
