Vienna’s “Parkpickerl” will be expanded to the entire city from March 2022. A short-term parking zone will then apply in all districts.

Vienna is to get a comprehensive parking strategy
The only exception to this is for residents who have their own vehicle. They can apply for the “Parkpickerl”. More than 38,000 people living in the newly included districts have already done so, as Transport City Councillor Ulli Sima (SPÖ) announced on Thursday.

For ten euros per month, they will receive a sticker that will allow them to park their car throughout the district. Viennese who do not own a vehicle and use, for example, car-sharing models or rental vehicles, remain exempted. There are also overlapping areas between the districts. A few streets, for example in industrial areas, do not become short-stay parking zones.

Maximum parking time of two hours valid throughout Vienna
In the rest of the city, this will apply uniformly everywhere in the future with a maximum parking duration of two hours, namely from 9:00 to 22:00. Currently, there are still differences – for example, a longer validity period in the inner districts. New is the parking space management in Liesing, Donaustadt, Floridsdorf and Hietzing. Simmering will become a parking picker district in its entirety, after a short-stay parking zone has already been imposed there in part.

It is advised to order the Pickerl online
It is advised to the online order of the Pickerls. This has already been used for 33,000 of the new applications, it said. In order to be able to care for the new areas of the expanded parking space management, the city places approximately 250 new parking sheriffs. There are currently 600 parking enforcement officers on the job. Revenue from parking enforcement, it is emphasized, goes directly to expanding public transportation. Commuters are advised to use Park & Ride facilities.
