The City of Vienna is relaxing the Corona rules for kindergartens on Monday, February 14. Vienna’s Deputy Mayor and City Councillor for Education Christoph Wiederkehr announced via short message service Twitter that vaccinated or recovered children will no longer be affected by group closures.

Until now, even vaccinated and recovered children had to stay home as soon as at least two children in a group or the staff tested positive for COVID-19. The relaxed rules are intended to ease the burden on the children’s parents and safeguard the children’s social environment, Wiederkehr explained.

Since December 16, the city of Vienna has offered BioNTech/Pfizer’s Corona childhood vaccine at 11 locations. The vaccine, developed by the company, is approved for children five years and older. Except for checkboxes, children five and older will also be vaccinated without registration at all other vaccination sites. However, the adult vaccine from BioNTech/Pfizer is used there in a reduced dose (off-label)
