A slight decrease is seen in hospital patients but more in intensive care units.
The 23,274 new infections reported Sunday are below the average for the past seven days (26,633) but are significantly more than last Sunday’s 22,075. And while the number of hospital patients fell slightly to 2,368 (down 44), 197 people were cared for in intensive care units, seven more than the previous day.
Among the provinces, Lower Austria was in the lead with 5,058 new infections, followed by Upper Austria (4,579), Vienna (4,082), and Styria (3,146). Tyrol reported 1,904 cases, Carinthia 1,694, Vorarlberg 1,109, Salzburg 1,063 and Burgenland 639.
Apparent significant differences in corona test costs across the provinces
The seven-day incidence was 2,087.1 As of Sunday, there were 274,258 active cases in Austria, down 1,616 from the previous day. Since the pandemic, there have been 2,659,532 confirmed cases in Austria. Recovered are 2,370,487 people, within the past 24 hours 24,865. Since yesterday, there have been 25 deaths with a seven-day average of 29.4 daily. A total of 14,787 Austrians have died from or with Covid-19 so far.
A total of 478,876 tests were reported in the past 24 hours, of which 377,815 were conclusive PCR tests. Their positive rate was 6.2 percent.
Four thousand five hundred seventy-one vaccinations were administered Saturday. According to E-vaccine passport data, a total of 6,796,902 people have received at least one vaccination. 6,243,927 people, or 69.9 percent of Austrians, have proper vaccination protection.
