In addition, there are 55 new deaths within 24 hours—the highest value since mid-December.
From Monday to Tuesday, 34,340 new infections were registered in Austria. This is below the past seven-day average of 43,878. Currently, 429,666 people in Austria are actively infected with the coronavirus.
The seven-day incidence is 3,450.63. In the past 24 hours, 388,778 new PCR tests were performed. This results in a positive rate of 8.83 percent.
There are also 55 new deaths associated with Covid-19 infection to report. This is the highest number in a single day since mid-December 2021. To date, the Coronavirus has claimed 15,487 lives in Austria.
Currently, 3,279 people are being treated in the hospital. This is an increase of 202 patients. In intensive care units, 225 people are treated, eight more than the previous day.
Vaccinations
Two thousand eight hundred fifty-three vaccinations were given on Monday. That included 213 first-time, 496 second-time, and 2,144 third-time shots. According to E-vaccination data, 6,811,736 people in Austria received at least one vaccination. Six million two hundred nineteen thousand five hundred fifty-five people, or 69.3 percent of Austrians, have proper vaccination protection. However, about 10,000 people let their vaccination certificate expire last week without getting a necessary booster.
