12,305 new Corona infections in only 190,901 tests

Twelve thousand three hundred five new Corona infections were detected across Austria within 24 hours on Monday.

Only about 190,900 tests determined the number of new infections after their number had already fallen continuously since the limitation as of last Friday. The new cases are well below the previous seven-day average of 21,725, with a seven-day incidence of 1,693.5 cases per 100,000 population. At the same time, 17 additional Covid-19-related deaths occurred.

The new deaths brought the number of victims claimed by Covid-19 since the outbreak in Austria to 16,002. A seven-day average of 42.3 people died with or from SARS-CoV-2 recently, with 296 deaths recorded. Per 100,000 population, 178.2 people have died from or with covid-19 since the pandemic. Fewer new infections than today, Monday, were last recorded on Jan. 11 of this year, 11,516 – though still out of 829,265 registered tests. Their number had already fallen before. On Monday of last week, there were 22,201 new infections in 408,944 tests, and on the previous Monday, there were 31,872 new cases in 543,304 tests.

On April 1, when the new regulations for Coronatests went into effect, 604,928 tests still detected 23,357 positive cases; the following day, 490,474 tests yielded just over 19,000 new cases; and finally, yesterday, Sunday, 13,903 infections were detected from 223,823 tests given.
