The long-lasting symptoms of corona are varied and can last for an extended period. According to an American study, the infection is now thought to affect the eyes and, in particular, vision.
Corona‘s symptoms are familiar and can be surprising. While they sometimes last over a long period, one of the critical signs of the disease could affect vision, a new American study shows.
A new symptom affecting the eyes
We’re familiar with the classic symptoms that affect the entire immune system, such as fatigue, coughing, and headaches.
Recently, other Long Covid has been observed in many Patients: ins, leading to complications, such as internal tremors. Further research shows how coronavirus affects our vision.
The study, published on April 12, 2022, establishes links between Covid-19 and eye contamination, visual disturbances, and even multiple retinal damages. Symbolically speaking, the eyes would suffer a kind of “stroke,” according to experts. In other words, fatty deposits or clots would become lodged in the retina and prevent the light (= the image) from fully reaching the brain.
The link between Covid-19 and vision problems
At the University of Michigan, researchers are discovering a link between the disease and eye infections.
On the medical website JAMA Network, scientists establish a parallel between infection with Covid-19 and a significant decline in vision between the second week of illness and week 26. Between the complete loss of vision and occlusions of various types, retinal artery occlusions lead to gradual vision loss.
The university report also describes cases of retinal vein occlusion, which increases by 47% in affected patients after contamination. The dramatic consequences could lead to complete loss of vision in some patients. So far, however, this symptom seems to be hardly familiar.
