The Czech Republic has ended the epidemic emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic. The last remaining measures, such as mandatory masking in health and care facilities, no longer apply. “The incidence is falling and falling,” Health Minister Vlastimil Valek said in Prague.

According to current figures, there were 77 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days. Health insurers now pay for PCR tests only if a doctor prescribes them.

According to official figures, since the pandemic began more than two years ago, 40,194 people have died in the Czech Republic in connection with an infection. The country has 10.5 million inhabitants.
