Acute forest fire danger in Vienna: barbecue ban is effective immediately.
Due to the prevailing drought, the city of Vienna warns of a massively increased forest fire risk.
For this reason, smoking, barbecuing, handling open fires, and any fire lighting in the forest and its immediate vicinity are prohibited with immediate effect, said a release from the city’s Forestry and Agriculture Department on Thursday. The ban is in effect until further notice and will only be lifted in the event of sustained rain showers.
