In the future, you can determine who can see if you are currently online in the chat window.

The new WhatsApp feature brings even more privacy
WhatsApp is increasingly expanding its privacy settings. According to a report at WABetaInfo, it will soon be possible to hide your online status. The feature is supposed to complement the function of restricting who can see when you were last online.

Specifically, it is about the short notice “online” that appears in the chat window when the chat partner opens the app. So far, there is no way to turn this off or prevent it from giving away when you open the chat thread.

It is not yet clear when the new feature will be included in the stable version of WhatsApp and will be available for Android and iOS users. However, it can be assumed that it will come with one of the following updates.

Another new feature
Recently, an option was added to the privacy feature of “Last online.” Previously, there were three options in the security settings for who could see the information: “Everyone,” “My contacts,” or “No one.” Now the option “My contacts except…” has been added. There you can then choose from which contacts the information should be hidden.
