From Friday to Saturday, 9,654 new infections were registered in Austria. This is below the 7-day average of 10,206 infections. The 7-day incidence decreases slightly to 802.61.
This brings the number of active Corona cases to 117,807. Ninety-five thousand nine hundred ninety-seven new PCR tests were made in the past 24 hours. This results in a positive rate of 10.06 percent.
There are also 37 new deaths. This means that 18,872 people with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died across Austria.
Rising hospital occupancy
The hospital is currently treating 1,002 patients, up 15 from Friday. This is also the first time since May 6 that more than 1,000 Covid-related patients have been hospitalized.
In intensive care units, 55 people receive treatment, two fewer than the previous day.
Vaccination readiness increases slightly
The current Corona wave is causing vaccination readiness to rise slightly again. Austria-wide, 5,292 vaccinations were carried out on Friday, of which 190 were first-time vaccinations. According to data from the E-vaccination passport, a total of 6,833,092 people have already received at least one vaccination. Exactly 5,018,959 people are basic immunized, meaning they have received three vaccinations. That’s 55.9 percent of the total population.
