The Corona traffic light in Austria remains orange. Tyrol and Salzburg join the previously orange-rated regions of Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland. The Corona Commission declared this on Thursday after a circular decision. However, there are also yellow-rated provinces.
Corona traffic light in Austria colored orange – some federal states yellow
The provinces of Carinthia, Upper Austria, Styria, and Vorarlberg continue to be classified as medium risk (yellow). Upper Austria and Vorarlberg, however, scratched the 50 thresholds for high risk, with risk scores of 48.4 and 48.0, respectively. Lower Austria (50.9) and Salzburg (51.3) came in just above that.
Intensive care unit utilization in Burgenland
In Burgenland, intensive care units were at 15 percent capacity yesterday (Wednesday), making it the only province above the first critical ten percent mark. At 4.3 percent, the utilization rate in the normal wards was also the highest there. According to the forecast, Tyrol and Lower Austria could also exceed four percent in the next two weeks.
Corona: Vienna with the highest seven-day incidence rate
The highest seven-day incidences per 100,000 inhabitants were in Vienna (1,117) and Burgenland (1,007). However, this is also distorted by the fact that Vienna, with 23,717 tests per 100,000 inhabitants, tests three times as much, and Burgenland (15,105) tests about twice as much as Styria, which comes a distant third with 7,826 tests per 100,000 inhabitants. Tyrol brings up the rear with 2,952 tests per 100,000 inhabitants.
