Tuesday is supposed to be quite bearable with 33 degrees. The immense heat wave will then reach Vienna on Wednesday.

VIENNA: According to data from the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG), Tuesday, July 19, will be a bright sunny, and almost cloudless day. The wind will blow primarily weak, most likely from an easterly to southeasterly direction. Early temperatures will be around 16 degrees. Daytime highs will rise to 33 degrees.

Heatwave is brewing
The heat wave is already picking up steam, however. New highs are expected by the end of the week. On Wednesday, July 20, bright sunshine is again on the agenda, and the midsummer heat temporarily peaks. Winds will be light to moderate from the southeast—early temperatures around 19 degrees, daily highs around 36 degrees.

From Wednesday on, the big heat will arrive. Viennese should look for cool places.

Tips against the heat
With the expected temperatures, one should be careful. Rather stay in the shade, wear headgear and drink enough water is the motto. Physical exertion, such as sports, should be avoided as much as possible during the day. Very important: Never leave children or animals alone in the car.
