There have been 160 reported monkeypox cases in Austria so far. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry said that the expected second shipment of monkeypox vaccine has arrived in Austria.
Forty-five people who contracted monkeypox in Austria have already been reported as recovered in the Epidemiological Monitoring Register (EMS). This is according to the update of case numbers on the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) website on Friday. This means that 28 cases have been added since Monday.
The second shipment of the monkeypox vaccine arrives in Austria.
The ministry announced in a statement on Wednesday that the second tranche of 2,000 doses will be used to vaccinate contacts of those directly affected and employees in specialized laboratories. Efforts to procure additional vaccines are underway. In case of symptoms, health authorities recommend quickly contacting a dermatologist or other medical professional. The contagious disease is reportable.
