The number of new Corona infections continues to rise: For the first time since late July, more than 10,000 – 10,449 to be exact – new SARS-CoV-2 infections were reported on Tuesday.

The 10,449 new Corona infections were above the average of 8,058 conditions per day over the past seven days. On Tuesday of the previous week, there were “only” 5,937 new infections. Meanwhile, the pandemic activity is also reflected in hospital patients. One thousand two hundred ninety-one hospitalized with Covid-19 meant 143 more than the previous day.

Seventy-five of the covid patients were treated in an intensive care unit. That was nine more than Monday and 11 more than a week ago. There were 74,121 active cases in Austria on Tuesday, up 5,636 from the day before. One death related to Covid-19 was reported, with an average of 2.7 deaths from or with Covid-19 over the past seven days. Since the start of the pandemic, 20,723 people in Austria have died from or with Corona infection.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 5,090,354 confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infections in Austria. Since then, 4,995,510 people have recovered, with 4,812 reported retrieved within 24 hours.

The seven-day incidence also rose, reaching 624.8 on Tuesday, up from 578.1 on Monday and 410.4 a week ago.

More than 5,400 Corona vaccinations were on Monday.
There were 5,404 Corona vaccinations on Monday, of which 4,707 were booster vaccinations (4th, 5th, and each subsequent dose). Five million two hundred ninety-two thousand one hundred eighteen people, or 58.6 percent of Austrians, have been validly vaccinated as recommended by the National Immunization Panel (NIG). A total of 661,409 people have received a booster vaccination to date.
