Corona case numbers are rising again in Austria, and hospitals are seeing more infected patients. On Monday, 2,814 new coronavirus infections were reported.
As usual, there was less testing over the weekend, so the number of new infections is below the weekly average.
Two thousand eight hundred fourteen new corona infections on Monday.
According to the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), 2,814 new coronavirus infections were recorded on Sunday, compared with an average of 4,317 new cases per day last week.
The seven-day incidence rose to 334.7 cases per 100,000 population. A week ago, it was 299.4; two weeks ago, it was 275.4. There are currently 42,422 laboratory-confirmed active cases in Austria, 180 fewer than the day before. A week ago, however, there were 36,814, significantly fewer. Since the start of the pandemic, there have already been 5,550,575 confirmed cases in Austria. In the past seven days, 26 deaths have been recorded. The Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 21,189 lives in Austria since the outbreak. Per 100,000 population, 234.7 infected people have already died.
954 Corona-infected in hospital
In the hospital, as of Monday morning, 954 were infected, around 22 more than on the previous day were reported. Within a week, there was an increase of six percent or 54 patients. Seventy-one people are being cared for in intensive care units. This number increased by two since Sunday; week-over-week, there was a decrease of two patients.
10,179 PCR tests were performed on Sunday.
10,522 rapid PCR and antigen tests were reported the previous day. Of these, 10,179 were conclusive PCR tests, and the positive rate was 27.6 percent. An average of 83,365 PCR analyses were performed daily last week, with 5.2 percent yielding positive results.
Eight hundred twenty-one vaccinations were performed on Sunday, of which 731 were booster vaccinations (4th, 5th, and each subsequent vaccination dose). A total of 1,424,274 people have received booster vaccinations to date.
