If you use your vacation days wisely in the coming months, you can take advantage of the available window days and maximize your vacation entitlement. For example, 43 vacation days left open can give you a total of 95 days off – that’s three whole months!
With four vacation days used, you can already allow yourself a total of eight days off from January 1 to 8
Easter Monday falls on April 9 – with four used vacation days at Easter, there are nine free days from the 8th to the 16th of April.
The national holiday on May 1 is a Monday in 2023. Therefore, with four vacation days from April 29 to May 7, you can secure nine days off. Upper Austrians even have a slight advantage this week: thanks to Saint Florian (May 4)!
Ascension Day (Thursday) is May 18, 2023 – those who take Friday off will enjoy a long weekend.
Pentecost also smells like an extended weekend. May 29 (Whit Monday) is free anyway. With a vacation day, a 4-day weekend is also inside here.
Corpus Christi (June 16) falls on a Thursday this year. So if you take Friday off, you have an XL weekend.
Assumption (15.08.) is a Tuesday in 2023. With a day off, a long weekend is also possible here.
National Day (October 26) and All Saints’ Day (November 1), combined with six vacation days, provide 12 days off throughout.
December 8 is a Friday in 2023. If you want December 2-10 off, you only need to invest four vacation days, and you’ll get a full nine days off.
Many like to be home with their families during the Christmas season, especially the days after Christmas Eve. Christmas and New Year’s Eve fall more favourably next year than this year. December 24 is a Sunday – Monday, and Tuesday on it are then free. Three vacation days will become a nine-day break until January 2, 2024.
