Aside from the price adjustments for Vignette and parking fees, the 34th StVO amendment should allow vehicle confiscation in extreme speeding. A new “Autopickerl” system will also be introduced in February 2023.
From February 2, 2023, the §57a certificate, the so-called “Pickerl,” will have a new layout and receive a QR code. From May 20, 2023, the mileage and consumption data of vehicles registered for the first time as of January 1, 2021, must be recorded in the course of the §57a appraisal. This data, including the vehicle identification number, is sent to a central database of the BMK (Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology) and forwarded to the European Environment Agency. The first objective: is to determine whether the consumption values measured during vehicle approval are being complied with.
