Those who like to travel to Italy by train might be interested: ÖBB will offer a seasonal Nightjet connection to Ancona next summer. This means that Rimini, Riccione and Cattolica can be reached directly overnight by Nightjet for summer vacation.
The connection will be offered from Vienna and Munich from June 10 to September 9, 2023, ÖBB announced.
ÖBB Nightjet will run from Vienna to Ancona via Rimini
NJ 40233 will run from Vienna via Bruck/Mur, Klagenfurt, Tarvis, Bologna, Rimini, Riccione, Cattolica and Pesaro to Ancona. The NJ 295 runs from Munich via Salzburg and from Villach, together with the NJ 40233 to Ancona. Tickets for the Nightjet connections are available in the seating car for 28.80 euros, in the couchette car for 48.10 euros, and in the sleeping car for 67.30 euros per person and direction.
Construction work in Italy
Due to extensive construction work in Italy, the connection from Bologna via Florence to Rome cannot be offered from June 10 to September 9, 2023. Travellers heading to Rome and Florence can board trains operated by the Italian rail company Trenitalia from Bologna.
Night train from Vienna to Genoa
A night train has been operating from Vienna to Genoa since December 11. The Nightjet departs daily from Vienna Central Station at 19:18. Scheduled arrival in Genova Piazza Principe is at 09:38; it also continues to La Spezia. Return is at 19:50 from Genoa, with scheduled arrival at 08:52 in Vienna.
