Apple is used to giving new technologies more time before integrating them into their own devices. They also stayed true to this strategy with foldable displays. While the competition – such as Samsung – has already launched several generations of foldable devices, Apple has remained cautious.
But that could change soon, as the usually well-informed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo writes on Twitter. Apple is expected to launch a foldable iPad as early as next year. The foldable iPad is supposed to come with a carbon base, bringing growth to the supplier Anjie Technology. Kuo usually gets his information from supplier circles.
Probably no iPad this year
Kuo further explains that no new iPad release is planned in the next 9 to 12 months. A new edition of the iPad Mini should then follow at the beginning of 2024.
As Kuo predicts, the lack of new devices this year will also likely depress sales. Accordingly, shipments are expected to decline by 10 to 15 percent year-on-year.
