According to Geosphere Austria, the coming week should bring sunny and cold winter weather.
On Monday, some widespread cloud fields will move through from the northeast, and the sun will not appear more often until the afternoon. However, it will remain precipitation-free in most regions, only in the far west; some snowflakes could appear again towards evening and in the night to Tuesday. Daytime highs are minus four to plus four degrees.
Sunny, wintry and cold weather in the new week
Tuesday will be a calm and sunny winter day. Only sporadic patches of the early morning fog, most likely in the inner Alps and the south. In the afternoon, cloud banks could occasionally appear in the northeast. The wind will be mostly light, only at the eastern edge of the Alps, moderate from northerly directions—early temperatures minus 17 to minus five degrees, daily highs about minus three to plus three degrees.
On Wednesday, the sun will shine in large parts of Austria.
In large parts of the country, the sun will shine on Wednesday. However, a few fog patches will feel themselves in the inner Alps, at Lake Constance and also in southern basin areas, and in the east of Austria, a few deep, high-fog cloud layers may initially pass through. In the day, however, the sun will appear more often, even in the initially still cloudy regions. The maximum temperatures will be about the same as the day before.
Bright sunshine forecast for Thursday
Bright sunshine is announced for Thursday; it will even be cloudless in many regions. Only in the inner Alps and the southern basins will a few fog patches be noticeable at first, but these will clear during the day. The wind from east to southeast will freshen moderately in the mountains and the east, sometimes briskly, intensifying the feeling of cold—early temperatures minus 16 to minus four degrees, daytime highs minus two to plus four degrees.
High-pressure influence: Weather remains sunny on Friday
With a weak high-pressure influence, it is expected to remain mostly sunny on Friday, although a few harmless cloud fields may sometimes move across the sky from the south. The wind will be light. Early temperatures are minus 15 to minus four degrees, and daytime highs are minus three to plus four degrees.
