If you want the best of the best that Apple currently has to offer, you have to dig pretty deep into your pocket. The iPhone 14 Pro Max already costs 1,449 Euros, even in the smallest version with 128 GB of storage. If you want, you can invest more than 2,000 Euros – for the version with 1 TB of storage.
Willingness to pay
Prices probably make some people wonder who is going to pay for it. The answer is quite simple: more people than you might think. Whether it’s Apple or Samsung, many people in the premium segment are reaching for the particularly expensive models. And so we might now see what has to happen given this reality.
Apple is currently working on an Ultra model, which is supposed to be even higher than the Pro Max in terms of features and price. At least that’s what the usually very well-informed journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg wants to know.
Accordingly, Apple is currently targeting 2024 as the launch date, which means that an iPhone 16 Ultra could be available in September 2024 alongside other new smartphones. We can only speculate about a concrete price, but if we go by current trends, even the cheapest model will probably be well over 1,500 Euros.
Many open questions
It remains unclear what could set an iPhone Ultra apart from the other models. Gurman speculates quite conservatively about larger screens and better cameras. However, he does not expect a foldable device – which more and more manufacturers are currently trying in the Android sector. So far, Apple has shown little interest in the foldable trend.
Simple motivation
Apple’s motivation is clearer: The reality is that smartphone buyers are keeping their devices longer and longer, and the markets relevant to Apple have long been saturated. This leads to a decline in sales figures, which was also clearly shown in 2022. So now, prices are increasing, and new premium classes are invented to keep sales and profits high.
