Analyzing data collected during the study, researchers found that subjects who consumed two ripe kiwifruits daily for four weeks benefited from improved IBS with prevalent constipation.

Why do kiwis help improve IBS with predominant constipation? This is because the fibres in the cell walls of kiwifruit have a great ability to inflate and retain water in vitro. This ability can lead to a softening of the stool and, consequently, an increase in its frequency.
