April continues – also when it comes to the weather. At least the first half of the week brings warmer temperatures regionally.
According to the Geosphere Austria (formerly ZAMG) forecast, the weather will remain changeable and unsettled in the coming days. At least it will be warmer in the first half of the week, at least regionally. Temperatures just below 20 degrees may well occur.

Cold front brings rain and snow on Tuesday
On Tuesday, a cold front will cross Austria during the day. Thus, cloud cover will remain widespread, especially during the first half of the day. Widespread rain will fall except on the southern side of the Alps. The snow line will drop from 1,800 to 1,200 meters above sea level from the north until the evening. With the infiltration of cooler air masses from the north, the air pressure will rise again, the clouds will partly dissolve, and the showers will decrease. With the passage of disturbances, a brisk westerly wind will arise. From minus one to plus eight degrees in the morning, temperatures will rise to seven to 17 degrees, with the highest values in the southeast.

Wednesday starts dry only in the south
On Wednesday, a warm front will pass through from the west in the morning and afternoon, bringing dense clouds and some rain. It will remain mostly dry only in the south, but even here, the sun will appear only occasionally. During the day, the weather will improve temporarily in the west before rain showers from the next cold front arrive in the evening. Then, a partly brisk westerly wind will freshen up here. Otherwise, a weak to moderate southeasterly to southerly wind will blow. Early temperatures will be around minus one to plus eight degrees, with daily highs around eleven to 18 degrees.

Another cold front arrives on Thursday
On Thursday, with a cold front from the west and a low-pressure development over Upper Italy, dense clouds will prevail and repeatedly rain heavily in the south. The snow line will drop towards 1,000 meters above sea level. The wind blows moderately from west to northwest—one to six degrees in the morning and a maximum of five to twelve degrees during the day.

Alternating sun and rain on Friday
On Friday, residual clouds will remain in the east and southeast; in Carinthia and Styria, it will also rain a little at first. In the day, however, a rapid alternation of sun and clouds will set in throughout Austria. Short rain showers may still be everywhere, but with a focus on the mountains of the northern side of the Alps. The wind will be moderate, in the east also brisk from west to northwest. Early temperatures will be zero to six degrees, rising to eight to 13 degrees by the afternoon.
