The U4 subway line will not run between Schwedenplatz and Schottenring for most of July. The reason is modernization work on concrete girders.
During the summer vacations, Vienna’s public transportation system is in trouble. Wiener Linien is using the school-free period for modernization work – we reported. The work starts on July 1 on the U4 line.
As of Saturday, the line will be divided: There will be no service between Schwedenplatz and Schottenring. This is because modernization work on the reinforced concrete girders is scheduled to last until July 30. According to Wiener Linien, passengers can switch to line 1 during the partial closure and to the U2Z, which will be extended to Schwedenplatz during the period of the line division.
