Summer temperatures will remain with us over the weekend, but the tendency for showers and thunderstorms will increase considerably, according to the forecast.
Temperatures will drop slightly in the coming days and, in combination with rain, offer at least some respite for heat-loving people.
Friday is changeable with showers and thunderstorms
On Friday, the first showers and thunderstorms will form in the morning over the Alpine peaks and further south and southeast. According to the forecast of Geosphere Austria (formerly ZAMG), the day will start sunny in the north and east. However, the tendency for showers and thunderstorms will increase significantly during the day.
According to the forecast, the wind will blow weakly to moderately from southeast to west on Friday. Temperatures will range between twelve and 19 degrees in the morning and between 20 and 28 degrees during the day. It will be warmest in the eastern lowlands.
High risk of thunderstorms on Saturday already in the morning
The weekend will start on Saturday with muggy air and an increased tendency for showers and thunderstorms. The first thundery showers will start in the morning over the Alpine peaks and generally south and southwest of them. In the afternoon, widespread showers and individual thunderstorms are expected.
According to the forecast, the wind will blow only weakly to moderately from southeast to west. In the morning, it will be between eleven and 19 degrees; the temperature will rise to 19 to 29 degrees during the day. It is the hottest in the east of Austria.
Temperatures climb back above 30 degrees on Sunday.
On Sunday, the weather will be most stable. The sun will often shine, and it will usually remain dry. During the day, spring clouds will form, growing into short showers or isolated thunderstorm cells in the central and southern mountain regions. The wind will be mostly light. Early temperatures will range between eleven and 18 degrees, with daily highs between 26 and 32 degrees.
Sunny start to the week, with showers across Austria from evening hours onwards
The new week will start sunny in the east. According to the Geosphere forecast, there will be the first showers and thunderstorms in the morning in the country’s west. The rainy front will spread eastward as it progresses. By Tuesday night at the latest, all parts of Austria will be affected by showers and thunderstorms. The wind will blow moderately to briskly from the south to the northwest. In the morning, 13 to 19 degrees are forecast; the thermometer will climb to 26 to 33 degrees during the day.
Tuesday will remain warm and thundery.
On Tuesday, many clouds with showers and embedded thunderstorms dominate the weather. In between, the sun will appear again and again. Towards evening, precipitation will decrease somewhat in the east. The wind will blow weakly to moderately from a mainly westerly direction. Early temperatures will range from 14 to 19 degrees; during the day, it will be between 23 and 28 degrees.
