The upcoming days are expected to have mostly pleasant weather with highs of 26 degrees, according to the Geosphere Austria experts. Rain showers and strong winds are expected on Sunday in the north and east due to a cold front foothill.
On Friday, however, the sunny weather character prevails throughout Austria under the continuing influence of high pressure in the Eastern Alps. Early fog patches will also mostly dissolve during the first half of the day. In the Danube region, the wind will be moderate from the west—early temperatures ranging from four to 14 degrees and daytime highs from 17 to 23 degrees.
Cloudy northeast, sunny southwest
On Saturday, the eastern Alpine region will remain on the edge of a high-pressure system centred over France in a northwesterly flow. From the northeast, the pressure differences will increase; thus, the westerly wind will strengthen significantly in the Danube region and the Seewinkel. In the afternoon, disturbance foothills with denser cloud fields without precipitation will reach the eastern half of Austria. Early temperatures will get two to 14 degrees, depending on the wind. However, the daytime high temperatures will again be mild, with 20 to 25 degrees.
On Sunday, a cold frontal extension is expected to brush the north, the center and the east of Austria with heavier cloud fields; in some places, it will also rain. In addition, the wind will freshen from west to north for a few hours, from brisk to vigorous. In the rest of Austria, it is longer friendly, initially often also sunny and only in the afternoon partly cloudy to more cloudy without further weather phenomena. Early temperatures will range from six to 20 degrees, depending on the wind, and daytime highs will range from 16 to 26 degrees. In the area of the disturbance, however, it cools down noticeably already around noon, especially in the northeast.
The west wind freshens up.
The new week will start on Monday with regional fog or high fog. Apart from that, the friendly, often quite sunny weather character will prevail. However, some veil clouds in high layers and in the very north and east, some medium-high clouds can dampen the sunshine noticeably at times. The wind will be mostly light to moderate, mainly from southeast to west. However, especially in the Danube region and the eastern lowlands, the westerly wind may freshen up noticeably towards evening—early temperatures: three to twelve degrees, daily highs: 18 to 26 degrees.
On Tuesday, a weakened disturbance foothill may again affect more significant areas of Austria, especially in the first half of the day. Especially on the northern side of the Alps, as well as in the north and east, some denser clouds will make themselves felt; locally, it may drip or even rain a little, and in open areas, the wind from west to north will freshen up for a few hours, sometimes briskly. In the south and the far west, only clouds in high to medium layers will be noticeable; from today’s perspective, it will remain dry and lightly windy throughout. In the afternoon, the sun should generally prevail again often. “Temperatures will remain well above the long-term average,” according to the Geosphere Austria forecast. Early morning temperatures will be up to 18 degrees, while daytime highs will range from 18 to 24 degrees.
