According to the latest forecast from Geosphere Austria, the weather in Austria will remain unusually mild in November. Daytime highs of up to 17 degrees Celsius are possible, while early morning temperatures could be below zero degrees Celsius.

Rainy start to the new week
It will rain frequently and widely on Monday in large parts of the north and east, while the snow line will slowly rise to over 2,000 meters. In the south and southeast, there will be some dense clouds but also sunny spells, and it will remain dry for the most part. The wind will be weak to moderate from a south-easterly to westerly direction. Temperatures will range between minus two and eight degrees in the morning and reach six to 14 degrees during the day, with the highest temperatures measured in the west.

Rain spreads on Tuesday
On Tuesday, a westerly current will influence the eastern Alps, resulting in a mixture of short sunny spells and dense clouds across the country. Initially, it will mainly rain over the Alpine peaks, with the snow line at 2,000 meters. During the afternoon, the precipitation will spread to the north and east of Austria and in the evening, it will also reach Carinthia and southern Styria. The wind will blow moderately to briskly from westerly directions while remaining rather light in the south. Depending on the wind, temperatures will range between one and eleven degrees in the morning and reach highs of ten to 17 degrees during the day.

Rainy midweek north of the Alps
On Wednesday, the eastern Alps will continue to be influenced by a robust north-westerly current. This will lead to weather-related disturbances, especially on the northern side of the Alps, with rain showers occurring throughout the day, accompanied by dense cloud cover at the beginning but with variable cloud cover later on. In the northern part of the Alps, it will rain and snow continuously, with the snow line generally fluctuating around 1,500 meters. However, it will remain sunny and dry in the south and southeast. Due to high-pressure differences, wind gusts from the west will occur in the north and along the main Alpine ridge at exposed locations, especially in the Vienna Woods region. Temperatures in the morning will be between minus one and eleven degrees, rising to between six and 15 degrees during the day.

Sunny weather on Thursday in the south
On Thursday, the eastern Alps will remain under the influence of a north-westerly current. Initially, there will only be isolated patches of medium and high clouds, but there will be more sunshine, especially in the southeast and south. During the day, a weak disturbance will move into Austria’s far west and north, bringing a few raindrops. The snow line will quickly rise to 2,000 meters. Temperatures will range between minus one and nine degrees in the morning and rise to 14 degrees in the southeast during the day.

Rain showers on the northern side of the Alps on Friday too
The north-westerly solid current with a disturbance influence north of the main Alpine ridge and the strong pressure differences on the ground between the west and east will continue to dominate on Friday. Due to the pressure differences, stormy conditions will again develop along the northern side of the Alps, especially on the eastern edge of the Alps. Repeated rain showers are expected during the day, mainly in areas north of the Alps and northeast. Above around 1,000 meters, snow and sleet showers are also expected. After temperatures between minus one and six degrees, the temperature will only rise to a maximum of ten degrees.

Mountains turn white
At higher altitudes, significantly above 1700 to 2000 meters, a considerable amount of fresh snow is on the way, which could reach more than 100 cm in some places.

Up to 17 degrees in valleys
Despite the precipitation and snow, temperatures will remain above average in large parts of Europe due to the humid sea air. It will be unusually mild at lower altitudes, especially on Tuesday and Thursday. According to the Geosphere Austria forecast from Sunday, daily highs of up to 17 degrees Celsius are possible, while early temperatures may be in the minus range.

Thursday will be stormy.
Thursday also promises to be a very windy day, with gusts of between 60 and 80 km/h along the northern side of the Alps. These weather conditions clearly indicate the strong influence of Atlantic low-pressure areas that are forecast for the coming week.
