After the snow chaos on Saturday, the situation has calmed down. There was no fresh snow on Sunday, but according to meteorologists, cold temperatures of up to minus 16 degrees are expected across the country during the evening and night.
Only a few flakes are expected to fall on Sunday, especially in Lower Austria and Styria. But it will be freezing: meteorologists expect lows of around minus 15 degrees in some areas during the evening and night. It will continue to be cold on Monday and Tuesday. Black ice is to be expected, and there is also an increased risk of avalanches on the ridges.
Monday morning will start very cold and mostly sunny in the country’s eastern half. From the west, extensive cloud fields of a warm front will spread from the beginning, finally reaching the east in the afternoon. Early temperatures will range from minus 16 degrees to minus 4 degrees! Daytime highs will be between minus five and 2 degrees.
On Tuesday, it will be cloudy in the west for most of the day, with occasional snow or rain, especially in the afternoon. Towards the east, there will be at least a few rays of sunshine during the day. Towards the evening, precipitation will move in here too. The snow line will fluctuate between low altitudes in the east and 700 meters above sea level in the west. Freezing rain with black ice is also possible. The wind will be weak to moderate from various directions. Early temperatures will be between minus 10 and 0 degrees, with daytime highs between minus five and 5 degrees.
