The Filipino community in Vienna celebrated the annual Christmas gathering on December 8, 2023, at the Hall of the Pfarre Leopoldau, Leopoldauer Platz 12, 1210 Vienna.
The event featured Filipino food and holiday treats, traditional Christmas carols, music, and dance.
Mr. Ray Arreza, Chairman of the CFAA, welcomed members and their guests to an afternoon of good food and music. He spoke about how the Christmas season has always held special significance for Filipinos at home and abroad. He encouraged everyone to remember the true reason for the celebration, which is the birth of Jesus.
Minister and Consul General Ivan Frank Olea delivered a welcome message conveying his greetings for the holiday season. Olea also thanked the leaders and members of the CFAA and other Filipino community organizations in Austria for attending the gathering and for their assistance in implementing the Philippine Embassy’s various programs and activities. Consul General Olea also expressed his hope that they will extend the same support and cooperation for the Philippine Embassy’s projects and programs.
Dance and song performances were rendered by members of the CFAA.
Christmas will always be significant for Filipinos. It is the time of the year when sharing and giving, not only of gifts and material things but, more importantly, of one’s heart and self, occurs as the world shares the universal message of hope, peace, love, joy, and salvation in celebration of the birth of our Lord and Saviour JESUS CHRIST.
