Attention drivers: January 14 is an important Digital Annual Vignette 2024 deadline! What you need to know now.
The “old” annual vignettes are still valid until January 31, 2024, when the 2023 vignette year finally ends. This means that from February 1, you must either click or pick correctly: the adhesive vignette in sunny yellow or the digital vignette in 2024.
To ensure that the Digital Annual Vignette is also valid from February 1, ASFINAG reminds you of the deadline of January 14. Because the Digital Annual Vignette can only be used on the 18th day after the online purchase, January 14 is a very important day for all those who prefer to click instead of pick.
So anyone who buys the Digital Annual Vignette in the ASFINAG toll store at asfinag.at or via the free ASFINAG app before then can use Austria’s motorways and expressways from February 1, 2024, without any problems. This is because of the consumer protection period that applies to all customers making online purchases under EU law.
“The digital vignette offers many advantages, but purchasing them in the app and toll store is also simple, secure, and convenient. Customers can choose when and where they buy the new vignette online. With the 1-day vignette and the immediate validity of 1-day and 10-day vignettes purchased online, we have expanded our range of services,” says ASFINAG Managing Director Claudia Eder.
But don’t panic if you don’t buy a digital annual vignette by January 14. Immediately, valid digital annual vignettes are available at ASFINAG vending machines, at selected sales outlets, at the six ASFINAG toll stations, at tobacconists and petrol stations, and from partners ÖAMTC, ARBÖ and ADAC.
The new 1-day car vignette is available for 8.60 euros and for motorcycles for 3.40 euros. For the 10-day vignette, which holidaymakers mainly use, there will be a slight adjustment from 9.90 to 11.50 euros. The price of the 2-month vignette will fall from 29 to 28.90 euros due to the new statutory price scale. The price of the annual vignette remains unchanged at 96.40 euros.
