It’s not just your home that needs a spring clean; your car needs attention, too! Here are some tips:

Washing your car at the start of spring
Underbody cleaning is recommended to protect the vehicle from damage caused by salt and dirt. It offers long-lasting protection against rust and corrosion. Underbody cleaning can be carried out at car washes and specialist workshops. Manual cleaning with a steam jet is a gentle method for electronic components. Door seals should also be cleaned and treated with care products after the cold season.

Get your car ready for spring: Caring for tires and rims
Both tires and rims require careful cleaning. The rims should be treated with a special cleaner. This should be washed off using a high-pressure cleaner (while maintaining a sufficient distance) and a gentle brush. During cleaning or changing tires, the tires should be checked for possible damage. Damaged or worn tires are a considerable risk on the road and must be replaced. Summer tires must have a tread depth of at least 1.6 millimetres and not be used for more than 5 seasons.

Tips for cleaning lights and windows
To ensure optimum visibility and prevent the formation of streaks, it is necessary to clean all windows (outside and inside) and the entire lighting system. The “Auto-, Motor- und Radfahrerbund Österreichs” (ARBÖ) recommends pre-cleaning the windows: The windows should first be wiped with a damp cloth and then dried with a microfiber cloth. Then, apply the window cleaner and wipe it with a clean cloth. It is particularly important to ensure no streaks, as these can significantly impair visibility. In addition, the windshield wipers were subjected to heavy use in the winter. Replace wiper blades if necessary.

Check car fluids at the start of spring
Check all fluids (engine oil, brake fluid and windshield washer fluid) and top up if necessary. If brake fluid is lacking, this should only be topped up at an authorized workshop. It is also advisable to check the air conditioning system for efficient cooling during the warm summer. Engine oil and windshield washer fluid can be topped up independently.
