The “Long Night of Churches” attracted around 300,000 people across Austria on Friday evening, with the Archdiocese of Vienna celebrating a special anniversary with over 900 events and 120,000 visitors.
According to Kathpress, around 300,000 visitors once again participated in the “Long Night of the Churches” on Friday. An estimated 120,000 people attended over 900 events in the Archdiocese of Vienna alone, according to the organizers of the major ecumenical church event across Austria on Friday evening.
According to the organizers, 629 churches and other church venues were open throughout Austria, and 2,331 events and program items were offered. All churches represented in the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Austria (ÖRKÖ) participated in the “Long Night.”. In the Archdiocese of Vienna, the event occurred for the 20th time.
In some parishes where Filipinos are already integrated, there was also Filipino participation, wherein Filipino songs and dances were rendered, and typical specialities were served.
The “Long Night” was also celebrated outside Austria: According to Kathpress, 64 churches were open in South Tyrol and 1,817 in the Czech Republic. The next “Long Night” will occur on Friday, May 23, 2025.
