Loida Lewis, a mother, successful businesswoman, and widow of the late CEO Reginald Lewis of TLC Beatrice International Holdings Inc., has recently published a book titled “Why Should Guys Have All The Fun?” This book delves into her personal journey, detailing her relationship with Reginald Lewis and her rise to becoming the CEO of TLC Beatrice following his passing. On June 9, 2024, Ms. Lewis presented her book at a signing event at the Thalia Bookstore in Vienna’s 3rd District.
During the book signing event, the mother of two daughters shared her inspiration for writing a book.
“I want to empower women, especially those who are driven and ambitious like myself, to understand that we can achieve success in all aspects of our lives—including having a family, a career, and a partner—but not necessarily all at once,” Lewis said.
Lewis emphasized that “Why Should Guys Have All the Fun” aims to support not only women but individuals of color as well.
Having witnessed her black husband face challenges such as limited access to resources, Lewis felt compelled to advocate for not just women but people of color and Asian Americans. Her goal is to empower us to take control, influence more businesses, and shape our own narratives rather than passively accepting our circumstances. She embodies the values of hard work, strategic planning, and integrity—essential to driving positive change.
Loida Lewis also emphasized the importance of effective leadership. She stated, “Having a clear goal is crucial. Without a goal, how can you expect others to follow you?”
Lewis also stressed the significance of acting ethically, highlighting the importance of adhering to a code of ethics. She warned against engaging in illegal activities, emphasizing that there are consequences in personal and business life.
Furthermore, Lewis encouraged individuals to embrace their uniqueness and not worry about fitting in. She shared her experience as a Filipina with an accent, emphasizing the importance of self-acceptance.
In addition, Lewis urged individuals to maintain a positive outlook and avoid focusing on discrimination. She emphasized the importance of seeking beauty and positivity in the world despite prejudice and racism.
In conclusion, Lewis advised individuals to stay true to themselves, set goals, and remain focused to achieve success. Individuals can navigate challenges and reach their full potential by avoiding negativity and embracing positivity.
Indeed, Loida Lewis has had an impressive professional journey. As a licensed attorney in both the Philippines and New York, she achieved a groundbreaking feat by becoming the first Asian and Filipino woman to pass the New York bar examination without studying law in the United States. Her accomplishments speak to her dedication, intelligence, and determination in the legal field.
The book launch event in Vienna was organized by Klemens Hruska.
