Fog and sunshine alternate, while precipitation can also be expected at higher altitudes. In this article, you can find out what to expect in terms of weather in the coming days.

Autumnal weather dominates the coming days
Vienna. The coming days in Austria will be dominated by autumnal weather. Rainfall is expected until Saturday in particular, especially in the higher regions of the country. From Monday, the weather will be characterized by fog patches in the morning hours, which will partly clear during the day.

Friday: Dense clouds and rain
On Friday, an area of low pressure will cause dense clouds over large parts of Austria. Rain is expected, with the snow line between 1,300 and 1,800 meters above sea level. The precipitation will mainly be concentrated on the northern side of the Alps and the southern and eastern parts of the country. The rain will slowly ease during the afternoon, but the chances of clearing remain low, with one exception in the southeast of the country. The wind will blow from the northwest with weak to moderate gusts, and lively gusts can also be expected on the eastern side of the Alps. Early temperatures will be between five and eleven degrees Celsius, while highs during the day will be between six and 14 degrees Celsius.

Saturday: Clouds and occasional rain showers
Saturday will start with compact cloud fields, which may bring local rain showers, especially in the northern foothills of the Alps and in the eastern regions, until the evening. From an altitude of 1,300 to 1,700 meters, the rain will turn to snow. Although dense clouds will dominate in the south, it will remain mostly dry. In the afternoon, occasional clearing with short sunny spells is possible in the west and south. The wind will continue to blow weakly to moderately from west to north, with lively gusts possible on the eastern edge of the Alps. Temperatures in the morning will be between five and twelve degrees Celsius, while in the afternoon, they could rise to between nine and 16 degrees Celsius.

Sunday: Sunshine and mild temperatures
On Sunday, the day will begin in the north and east of Austria with residual clouds from the night or fog and high fog, which will vary in consistency. In the remaining regions, however, sunshine will predominate. From the afternoon, increasingly sunny weather will also prevail from Upper Austria eastwards. However, the first harbingers of an approaching warm front will arrive from Vorarlberg by the evening. The wind will blow weakly, in the east moderately from northwest to north. Temperatures in the early hours will be between zero and twelve degrees Celsius. Daytime highs will reach 12 to 18 degrees Celsius.

Monday: Fog and increasing sunshine
On Monday, people in the lowlands, especially in the eastern part of the country, in the Danube Valley, on the northern side of the Alps, and in the inner Alpine basins and valleys, can initially expect thick fog and high fog. Away from these zones, however, the sun will shine frequently, and the weather will become increasingly sunny as the day progresses. By the afternoon at the latest, some denser clouds will gather from the west, but for the time being, there is hardly any significant rain to be expected. The wind will blow weakly to moderately from the east to the southwest. Temperatures in the morning will be between three and twelve degrees, while daytime highs will be between 14 and 23 degrees. It will be warmest in the western half.

Tuesday: Higher cloud cover and first showers
A southwesterly high current will influence the weather on Tuesday. In some valleys and over the lowlands in the east, the day will begin with fog or high fog, which should clear during the day. The sun will shine at times across most of the country, although a screen of higher clouds will be noticeable from the west. In the south and southwest, dense clouds will generally accumulate, and the first rainfall will occur during the course of the day. The wind will be moderate and may become brisk to strong in the east. Foehn effects are to be expected near the main ridge and on the northern side of the Alps. Temperatures in the morning will range between seven and twelve degrees Celsius, while daytime highs will be between 14 and 25 degrees Celsius. The highest values will be reached with foehn support on the northern side of the Alps.
