Vienna – The maximum temperatures in Austria will rise to 22 degrees by Wednesday. In less sunny regions, however, they will hardly exceed ten degrees, according to forecasts by Geosphere Austria. On Monday, extensive cloud fields will initially move in from the west and reach eastern Austria in the afternoon. Towards the evening, some rain is expected on the northern side of the Alps and in the north. It will be one to eight degrees in the morning and twelve to 17 degrees as the day progresses.
On Tuesday, dense clouds will move through at least occasionally, especially in Upper and Lower Austria, Vienna, and northern Burgenland, and rain showers are expected, especially in the morning. The sunny spells will only become more frequent and longer as the day progresses. In the rest of Austria, the influence of high pressure will already be noticeable. Here, the sun will mostly shine away from fog zones, such as in southern basin locations or in the Rhine Valley. Early temperatures will drop to five to ten degrees. Later temperatures of eleven to almost 20 degrees are expected, with the highest values in the west
Persistent patches of fog
On Wednesday, fog and high fog patches will persist in the lowlands in the north, east, and south, regionally in the inner Alps and the Rhine Valley. The sun will often shine away from the fog, with only a few high cloud fields moving through from the southwest. The east-to-southeast wind will be moderate to brisk in the north and east. Along the northern side of the Alps, it will be slightly foehn-like. It will be one to ten degrees at the start of the day, with highs between eleven and 22 degrees, depending on the length of sunshine and the wind.
On Thursday, a southwesterly current will often ensure sunny weather on the northern side of the Alps. At the same time, patches of high fog will persist in the southwest and south, and denser clouds will accumulate in the mountains, from which it may drizzle lightly. It may also be foggy and cloudy in some areas in the east, away from the mountains, with only some of these fog patches dissipating as the day progresses. The wind will blow moderately to briskly from east to south in foehn lines and in the east. The lows will be between four and eleven degrees, the highs between ten and 22 degrees, depending on the sun and the foehn.
On Friday, fog patches and high fog will mostly persist in the south and southeast of the country. In the Far East, a few compact clouds could pass through temporarily, with a little rain possible in some places. Otherwise, there will be plenty of sunshine and only a few harmless clouds, apart from local patches of early morning fog. The day is expected to start with temperatures of four to twelve degrees, rising to twelve to 22 degrees as the day progresses – with the highest values in the west under a light breeze.
