14 November, Vienna, Austria – Ms. Kavita Verma, Chairperson of the United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG) Bazaar, accompanied by Alternate Bazaar Chairperson Ms. Marizel Rojas, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Ernst Nevrivy, the distinguished District Head of Vienna’s 22nd District (Donaustadt). The purpose of the visit was threefold: to express gratitude for Mr. Nevrivy’s unwavering support for UNWG’s initiatives over the years, to extend an invitation for him to be among the honoured guest speakers at the bazaar’s grand opening ceremony, and to request his assistance in promoting this year’s UNWG International Festival and Charity Bazaar, scheduled for 30 November 2024 at the Austria Centre Vienna.
The UNWG International Festival and Charity Bazaar highlight Vienna’s social calendar, gathering diplomats, residents, and visitors to experience a rich tapestry of global cultures. Through booths representing various nations, the Bazaar offers an array of handicrafts, delicacies, and performances, with proceeds directed toward charitable causes benefiting women and children in need.
Mr. Nevrivy has been influential in Viennese public service for many years, focusing on community development and social cohesion. Under his leadership since 2014, Donaustadt has seen extensive growth, particularly in infrastructure and cultural programs to foster diversity and inclusion. He has worked tirelessly to make Donaustadt a dynamic, thriving area within Vienna. His work focuses on balancing urban expansion with green spaces, benefiting residents and visitors to this expanding district. Known for his commitment to local and international solidarity, Mr. Nevrivy’s support for the UNWG Bazaar reflects his dedication to causes that resonate with Vienna’s global community.
As Vienna’s largest district in terms of area, Donaustadt is a region of diverse neighbourhoods, modern infrastructure, and abundant natural beauty, including the iconic Danube River, the Alte Donau, and the Lobau wetlands. With its mix of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, Donaustadt has emerged as a hub for innovation and sustainable growth. The district is home to the Vienna International Centre (VIC), which hosts several United Nations offices, including the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) United Nations Office in Vienna, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Mr. Nevrivy’s continued engagement and anticipated presence as a guest speaker further underscore the solidarity between local governance and the UNWG’s charitable mission, promising an inspiring and impactful event.
