UNWG “Music for Peace” Concert at the United Nations

Vienna, Austria, 22 January 2025 – The United Nations Women’s Guild (UNWG) hosted a heartwarming “Concert: Music for Peace” at the United Nations Vienna to celebrate the Chinese Lunar Year. This unique event brought together music and culture, featuring performances by 17 talented children aged 6 to 13.

The young performers enchanted the audience with a repertoire of classical and modern pieces on the piano and violin and through vocal renditions. The evening was a testament to the universal language of music as a tool for fostering peace and unity.

Mr. Hermann Kroiher, Secretary General of the United Nations Correspondents Association Vienna (UNCAV) and Board Member of the European Press Association (EPA), graced the occasion. In his inspirational message, Mr. Kroiher highlighted the importance of youth and music in building bridges across cultures and fostering understanding. He also distributed certificates of appreciation to the young artists, acknowledging their dedication and exceptional performances.

Ms. Yang Wang, the music teacher of all the performers, expressed her joy and pride in her students. She thanked the UNWG for providing this prestigious platform, allowing the children to showcase their talents at the United Nations. She commended the performers for their hard work and artistry, noting that the evening’s repertoire reflected their dedication and passion.

A delightful selection of Chinese delicacies enriched the event, adding a flavorful touch to the Lunar Year celebrations. Guests enjoyed the harmonious blend of music, culture, and culinary traditions in an atmosphere of peace and friendship.

The Concert: Music for Peace not only marked the start of the Chinese Lunar Year with joyous melodies but also reaffirmed the role of art in promoting peace and understanding among nations.
