Huawei explains that there is a specific procedure for charging a cell phone. What should be done first: connecting the smartphone to the cable or plugging the charger into the socket?
Charging the cell phone: First, the plug, then the cell phone
Even though smartphone battery performance has improved significantly, especially in recent years, and cell phones no longer need to be plugged in quite so often, charging remains an (almost) daily ritual. You can’t do much wrong here—or can you? Smartphone manufacturer Huawei has addressed the issue and explained the correct sequence. Of course, this also applies to other cell phones.
According to Huawei, there are two reasons why we should think about charging smartphones in the correct order. Firstly, it can increase the longevity of the battery and the cable used. On the other hand, it can also prevent possible overvoltage. This becomes noticeable when sparks fly at the socket.
To prevent overvoltage and protect the phone’s battery, Huawei recommends first plugging the charger into the socket. Then, the charging cable should be connected to the cell phone.
After charging: First, the cell phone, then the plug
Once the charging process is complete, the correct sequence is also recommended. Huawei recommends disconnecting the charging cable from the smartphone first. According to the advice, if necessary, the charger should only be disconnected from the main power. This prevents generating a reverse instantaneous current, which, in the worst-case scenario, can result in a shorter battery life.
