The sunny weather will continue on Thursday. Only from Lake Constance to the Upper Austrian Lake District (Upper Austria) will there be localized fog, which will clear in the morning. Afterward, some thin veil clouds will gather in the west. In the east, the wind will remain moderate from the southeast. While widespread frost will occur again in the morning, temperatures will rise to between 11 and 19 degrees during the day.
Friday: Still sunny, but first clouds
On Friday, the sun will be out again frequently, but not completely unclouded. In the morning hours, there may be fog or high fog in places. In the afternoon, clouds will increase from Vorarlberg to Carinthia, and Sahara dust will be noticeable, making the air hazy. Early temperatures will again be in the frosty range, but in the afternoon, it will reach 11 to 18 degrees in the west, even up to 22 degrees in places. At 2000 meters, temperatures will range between 2 degrees east and 8 degrees west. Moderate to brisk easterly winds will blow in Upper and Lower Austria, with foehn-like southerly winds in the Alps.
Weather trend for the weekend
Sunshine, high fog, clouds, and Sahara dust will alternate on Saturday. It will become increasingly cloudy, especially along the main Alpine ridge and south of it, with a few raindrops possible locally in the afternoon and snowflakes in the high mountains. The wind will freshen up during the course of the day and blow foehn from east to south. Temperatures will reach 12 to over 20 degrees.
Sunday will bring unsettled weather. From the Silvretta (Vorarlberg) to the Karawanken (Carinthia), it will often be cloudy and rainy, with snow falling above 1500 to 1900 meters. On the northern side of the Alps and in the east, the sun and clouds will alternate, with isolated rain showers possibly in the afternoon. Brisk to gale-force winds from the southeast to south, with foehn winds in places. Highs in the southwest will range from 7 to 13 degrees, while the rest of Austria will reach 14 to over 20 degrees.
