Changeable and cloudy weather will follow high-pressure weather, but temperatures will remain relatively mild. Geosphere Austria forecasts that temperatures could even exceed 20 degrees at the weekend.
Dense cloud fields at the weekend
Today, Saturday, a disturbance zone from the southwest with many, sometimes dense, cloud fields will move across Austria. Rain showers are expected, especially south of the main Alpine ridge. The snow line will be above 1,600 meters above sea level. The sun will usually only appear occasionally between the dense clouds, with the longest spells in the west. The wind will blow moderately to briskly from east to south. Early temperatures will be between minus three and plus ten degrees, with daytime highs between eleven and 21 degrees. The highest values are expected on the northern side of the Alps with foehn support.
On Sunday, there will often be dense clouds and persistent, sometimes heavy rainfall on the southern side of the Alps with a southwesterly high-altitude current. The snow line will be around 1,800 meters above sea level. In the rest of the country, the weather will be quite friendly at first, but as the day progresses, denser clouds will gather, and it will rain at times. The wind will often blow briskly from the south to southeast, especially along the main Alpine ridge, in the foehn valleys on the northern side of the Alps and in the eastern lowlands, and weak to moderate from the east to south everywhere else. Temperatures will rise from two to nine degrees in the morning to between seven and 18 degrees, with foehn support reaching 20 degrees in some regions.
Cloudy and rainy weather at the start of the week
Monday will be widely cloudy, with the southwest remaining rather cloudy. A few rain showers are to be expected. This probability is highest in the west and southwest and lowest in the east. The wind is often light, sometimes moderate from the south in exposed locations. It will be two to eight degrees in the morning and twelve to nineteen degrees in the afternoon.
On Tuesday, the day will be cloudy and rainy in many areas with persistent disturbances. It will be mostly partly cloudy,, and there will often be heavy rain showers, especially on the northern side of the Alps and in central Austria. The snow line will be above 1,700 meters above sea level. The wind will mostly blow weakly from different directions during the day. Early temperatures will range from three to eight degrees, and daytime highs will range from nine to 16 degrees.
