VIENNA, Austria – On Sunday, October 18, 2026, Catholics around the world will celebrate World Mission Sunday, a special day of prayer, solidarity and support for missionary work. In Austria, this year’s celebration places the spotlight on Ethiopia, with collections from Holy Masses and related activities supporting the missionary projects of Missio Austria.

In Vienna’s 21st district, the Parish of Leopoldau will mark the occasion with music and international fellowship. The Sanghimig Choristers, a Filipino choir based in Vienna and led by Debbie Beltran-Tschirch, have been invited to provide the musical accompaniment for the 9:30 a.m. Holy Mass at Leopoldauer Platz 77A.

Parishioners, children and young people will also take part in the liturgical celebration, reflecting the active involvement of different generations in the life of the Church.

World Mission Sunday reminds Catholics that the mission of the Church extends beyond national borders. Through prayer, donations and practical assistance, the faithful are encouraged to support communities facing poverty and hardship.

The celebration in Leopoldau also highlights the contribution of the Filipino community to the spiritual and cultural life of the local Church. Through their music, the Sanghimig Choristers will help create an atmosphere of unity, faith and solidarity.

By joining in prayer and giving generously, the faithful are invited to share hope with people in need and to strengthen the bonds of a worldwide Church united in its mission of service.

Faith knows no borders—and every act of generosity can help bring hope to those who need it most.
