The devotees of Our Lady of Manaoag joined the Parish of the Heart of Jesus parishioners in Vienna’s 21st District to mark the start of the Marian devotion in May. This also signals the beginning of their nine-day novena in honor of Our Lady of Manaoag.

Held daily at the parish, the novena draws both longtime devotees and new parishioners, many of whom are members of the Filipino community in Austria.

The feast day will be celebrated on May 11 with a special mass presided over by Fr. Josef Giggenbacher, the parish priest. He will be joined in concelebration by Fr. Alvin, chaplain of the Filipino Catholic Community.

This Marian devotion, rooted deeply in Filipino Catholic tradition, continues to thrive in Austria through the efforts of the Our Lady of Manaoag Devotees and the Association of Pangasinenses in Austria. Their close coordination has helped preserve the community’s cultural and spiritual heritage, offering a meaningful connection to home for many overseas Filipinos.

The novena and feast honor the Virgin Mary and strengthen the bonds among Filipino Catholics in Vienna. As the prayers and hymns echo through the church each evening, they remind us of faith, unity, and the enduring devotion to Our Lady of Manaoag, far from her home shrine in Pangasinan.

These celebrations highlight the growing presence and contribution of the Filipino community to Vienna’s spiritual life, keeping traditions alive in a foreign land.
