August 30, 2025 – Lower Austria – Lower Austria came alive on August 30, 2025, as communities gathered for the annual Fest der Begegnung, a vibrant celebration of culture, music, and food that showcased the strength of unity in diversity.
The festival transformed the region into a meeting place of traditions from across the globe. Guests enjoyed culinary delights from different continents while being treated to a rich program of music and dance. The event underlined one message: togetherness thrives when cultures meet, share, and celebrate side by side.

The Philippine Association in Niederösterreich (PANÖ), led by its president, Ms. Janet Heiss, proudly represented the Philippines. Dancers in colorful attire performed traditional folk dances, drawing warm applause and reflecting the country’s joyful spirit. Alongside them, performances from Croatian, Austrian, and Thai folklore groups brought their own heritage to the stage, while West African drumming, Iranian DJ sets, and Kurdish pop music added exciting rhythms and modern sounds.
Musical highlights included powerful live sets from Mert Cosmos and Salah Ammo, who blended Kurdish and Arabic influences to captivate the audience. Their performances echoed the festival’s spirit—different roots, one shared stage.
“Fest der Begegnung is more than just a cultural program—it’s a reminder of the respect and friendship that define our communities in Lower Austria,” said one of the organizers. “Every performance, every dish, every shared moment builds bridges.”
The day closed with an atmosphere of joy and connection, proving once again that diversity is not a challenge but a strength. Fest der Begegnung 2025 stands as a testament to how music, dance, and food can unite people beyond borders.
