Parking fees in Vienna: From 2026, parking tickets and parking stickers will increase by 30%, and public transport tickets will also become more expensive. Revenue will be used to expand cycle paths.
It’s not just public transport users who will have to dig deeper into their pockets from now on; costs for motorists will also skyrocket from 2026. As announced on September 1, 2025, parking in Vienna will become significantly more expensive. According to City Councillor for Finance Barbara Novak, the price increases represent an “indispensable contribution to financial stability.”
From January 1, 2026, parking fees in Vienna will become more expensive. The cost of all parking tickets will increase by 30 percent—this means an additional cost of 40 cents per half hour for all drivers, regardless of the type of parking ticket.
The parking sticker will also be affected and will not retain its old price. You will have to pay three euros more per month, which means you will now have to pay 13 euros instead of ten.
In addition, there will be a switch from an annual to a monthly fee. These measures are expected to generate substantial additional revenue, with a total of 53.89 million euros to be added. 25.06 million of this will come from increases in parking stickers, and 28.83 million euros from parking tickets. The additional revenue from the parking increases has already been earmarked for use in the design of public spaces and the expansion of bicycle infrastructure.
Another increase is on the way, this time for fines for illegal parking. The current fine is €36, but from next year this fee will be raised to €50. The increase is not only an essential step for Vienna’s economic stability but also aims to ensure greater safety and order on the roads. Both the economy and quality of life would benefit from this.
